Mexico October 2011

HEAVEN
I miss Mexico!  The ocean, the sand, the sound of the waves, the food, and most of all spending all day everyday with my best friend for almost a week.  It was so relaxing.

We arrived during a tropical storm with a warning of possible hurricane.  The first two days we relaxed, talked, caught up on years of missed sleep, walked in the rain(the resort provided umbrellas), watched incredibly scary and amazing storms from our balcony, played in a ping pong tournament that John won and I got 3rd place, and ate tons of amazing food.  The resort flooded as well.  They had pipes everywhere sucking up the water, so the flooding was gone as soon as the rain was gone.  It was supposed to rain for almost the entire trip, but we were blessed to have our last 4 days with great weather.

Our sunny days were spent walking on the beach, looking for sea shells, (I found 2 shark teeth washed up with tons of coral.  I was so excited about the shark teeth for the boys.  Who finds a real shark tooth at any beach ever?), swimming in the ocean, snorkeling, kayaking, lots of long walks on the beautiful resort, talking for hours, eating the best food I've ever had.

A fun memorable story:  On an evening walk we walked by the resorts version of American Idol.  We decided to watch for a bit.  It soon turned from hilarious tone deaf drunk people to American Idol/The Voice when girl from Ireland sang.  John and I were blown away from her talent.  As a side note, there were two famous record producers vacationing there and they both happened to be at karaoke that night.  One of them sang and he was really good and so entertaining.  Then the last person to get up was an absolute DIVA.  I had never heard anything like it in person.  Seriously, I had chills the whole time and was amazed that anyone could sing like that at all.  She sang Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You".  It was just as good if not better than the original.  She won that night without any question.  I wonder if she has a recording contract by now?

Note to myself for my own memory: My favorite restaurants: which I'm craving (pregnancy does that to you), Kampai (all their food and especially their fried ice cream), Las Fuentes (breakfast with Nutella and fresh fruit and their amazing vegetable omlets), D'Italia (best restaurant I've ever been too, their lobster bisque was incredible), Candlelight Dinner on the Beach (this was maybe a tad bit better than D'Italia, lobster cappuccino(there was no coffee, but it looked like a cappuccino, I have never had anything like it), fresh citrus salad both to die for).  Had my very first massage and afterwards was able to stand straight for the first time in my life.  It was incredible.  I need another one. Oh, and I miss hearing and saying Hola, I love how friendly the people were.
