Grandma Susan Meets Nate for the First Time

Grandma Shawna meets Nate for the First Time

"Josh Says the Funniest Things"

January 29, 2009
Today Josh and I were playing trains when Josh and I had this conversation.

Josh: "Mommy, I broke Josh."
Marie: "You broke Josh?
Josh: "Yeah!" (very enthusiastically)
Marie: How, did you brake Josh?"
Josh: "I got owey (sp).  I cut myself."

There is a trend in Josh's language and thinking lately.  I think it is so funny!

"Josh Says the Funniest Things"

Josh always says the funniest things, I'm hoping to start writing them down and since my blog is basically my journal, I'm going to record most of them here.

Monday, January 26th, 2009
Josh: "Mommy, I dropped Josh."
Marie: "You dropped Josh?"
Josh: "Yeah!"
Marie: "How did you drop Josh?"
Josh: "I fall down!"
Marie: "Oh!"

Residency Programs

Many of our friends and family have been asking about where we are going for Residency and when we'll know, so here's the update!

John interviewed at several schools; the ones that we've liked the most are as follows:
Duke (Durham, North Carolina)
University of Utah (Salt Lake City, Utah)
University of Indiana (Indianapolis, Indiana)
Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minnesota)
Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland, Ohio)
University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, Michigan)
University of Florida (Gainesville, Florida)

Here are the other schools that I forgot to add to this original post until today (January 22):
University of Colorado (Denver, Colorado)
University of Wisconsin (Madison, Wisconsin)
University of Illinois (Peoria, Illinois)
Washington University (WASH-U) (St. Louis, Missouri)
University of Iowa (Iowa City, Iowa)

It is going to be such a tough choice to decide what to rank these programs and then the match process will ultimately decide where we will go!

We send our Rank List by February 25th and we find out where we Match on March 17th (I think that's the correct date)

If anyone knows anything about living in any of these places (we will live there for about 7 years, which seems like such a long time) call me or leave a comment or if anyone knows anything about the neurosurgery program themselves.  We've got to do a lot of homework on these residencies.

Christams Day!!!

December 25, 2008
This was our most memorable Christmas as we brought Nathan (Nate) home from the hospital for the first time!  It was the most perfect peaceful day!
Josh loved all his gifts from family and we all really loved his train set since he played with it straight with no breaks for about five hours!  It allowed me to cuddle with my brand new son  and talk with John without distractions from a two-year-old all afternoon, it was Heaven!

Joshua Meets Nate on Christmas Eve

Josh was so excited to meet his new baby brother!  He loves him and has transitioned well.
Giving Nate a kiss.
Josh thought his tiny eyes, nose, mouth, fingers, etc. were so amazing.
Now we are a family of FOUR!!!
Josh and his dad have become best buds lately!  They've had so much fun together!
